This close-up view of the box shows the terraced sides and one unexplainable feature of the Nahargarh Fort step well - the long ramp with its sharp turn. It may be the entrance for people to walk down into the step well, or it may be another sluice for run-off water. The inner wood of the box is mahogany, the "water" is dyed English sycamore, and the body of the box is cocobolo. The box is 19" long by 12" wide by 5 1/2" deep.
