THE GORE PLACE MODEL
Here is the front of the model, showing the very symmetrical design and the two front doorways.
The model is made of mahogany and English maple. Below is the back side of the house:
The shell of the middle section lifts off first like a cover , and then those of the wings lift off as well.
Inside is an inner building if you will, where each floor is a tray with the floor plan inside.
The trays of the second floor lift off so you can see the first floor plan underneath, and also understand how the
different floor levels inter-connect. The floor plans inside are raised a sixteenth of an inch so that you can feel with
your finger where the walls are. You can also feel where there are stairs and what direction they lead, where
there are fireplaces, marked by small shapes covered with sandpaper, and where ther are doors, marked by brass brads.
Thus with your finger you can start in any room and feel your way, as through a maze, to any other room.
